The midnight house where rendition cases go to fess and die something happened in the last days of the secret charter code name 673 and it left its mark so vividly on one of the people assigned to question high value targets in the war against the taliban and other terrorists. The midnight house of the title is a secret site in poland where high value prisoners in the war on terror are clandestinely flown to be interrogated outside the jurisdiction of us law and even the us military code of justice. The victims were part of a ten member interrogation team that operated out of a secret base in poland called the midnight house for almost two years they put the screws to the toughest jihadis men thought to have knowledge of imminent threats. To me the midnight house had all the right pieces for a great thriller but it just never grabbed my attention like it was intended i found the book to be an easy listen and an enjoyable one but not memorable. A bbc radio play that owes a lot ie the central idea and much of the imagery to mr james the mezzotint i think the wartime setting is well handled and its nice to hear caroline john
